Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium in Honor of Belmont University Debate 08
|
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 6, 2008) – During a special Grand
Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium last evening, Belmont University alumni
Brad Paisley, Trisha Yearwood, Josh Turner, and Julie Roberts along with
special guests Darius Rucker and Bob Schieffer & Honky Tonk Confidential
entertained the invitation-only crowd that included national media in
Nashville for the presidential debate.
CBS News chief Washington correspondent and moderator of
“Face The Nation” Schieffer, a country music fan who has long enjoyed
singing and writing country songs, performed two songs then returned to the
stage with Brad Paisley to close the show.
“Can I say something I’ve wanted to say all my life?” said Schieffer after being introduced. “I’m Bob Scheiffer and I’m proud to be on the Grand Ole Opry! I’m appearing between Trisha Yearwood and Brad Paisley. I want to moderate that third debate, but I’ll tell ya, I won’t be feeling near the pressure I’m feeling tonight.”
